The Queer Nude in Perspective
We returned to the Royal Institute of British Architects to celebrate another year of Pride in London and RIBA's unrivalled architectural archives.
Our inspiration began with Disappear Here, RIBA's installation by Sam Jacob Studio exploring truth and illusion in how we depict the world around us. Models Maya and Kage posed against projections of perspective images to show Individuality, Freedom, Pride, Protest & Celebration, the five hallmarks of the #PrideMatters campaign.
We began with two-minute poses led by tutor Leo Crane using continuous line and blind drawing techniques. We progressed to five-minute poses using the #PrideMatters words to set the mood. We then brought in perspective images for four longer poses where participants and models alike were encouraged to express their own individuality in their creative work.
