Digital Cinema Package (DCP)
A Digital Cinema Package is a collection of digital files used to store and convey digital cinema audio, image, and data streams. It is usually made up of large MXF (Material Exchange Format) and XML files. It is used for professional screenings in cinema. See this article.
High quality cinematic release
For a high quality movie file for cinematic presentation or playing from a hard drive, we recommend a Quicktime file (.mov) at Prores compression. This file type may be too heavy for streaming.
Online streaming
For the a good quality, compressed file, we use a .mp4 file at H264 compression (video) / AAC (audio). This works well for streaming and online presentations.
