Screenwriter Roy Joseph Butler will be exhibiting his latest moving-image work, Nude Triumphant, as part of the 'I Matter' series, curated by Olu Taiwo.
'I Matter' interrogates what it means to matter, exploring its often complex interactions through the work of various emerging and established artists working across mediums, from sculpture, spoken word and installation art to 2D, digital, participatory and moving-image works, to name just a few. With 'I Matter', Olu Taiwo is showcasing works that connect to the importance of diversity as it relates to local traditions, customs, crafts and the art of storytelling.
In Nude Triumphant, Roy's own journey of discovering what it means to matter takes centre stage, expressed through the art of life modelling and through voices of characters inspired by him and by others on a similar road.
Roy will be discussing his work at the online artists’ panel scheduled for Tuesday, 8th June 2021, 6:30 - 7:30 pm. Tickets are free, but advanced booking is essential. To reserve click here.
After the 2-week gallery show, 'I Matter' will go online as a virtual exhibition for one year, and an online panel discussion with Olu Taiwo and exhibiting artists is forthcoming, so watch this space!
Nude Triumphant was animated by the Figuration Studio and produced by Animate Projects, with additional writing credits for Maya Williams and Jo Calderwood.
