Moominvalley Photobooth

This festive season, Figuration joined 300 people at Dulwich Picture Gallery for a Moomins Winter Eve, celebrating Finnish artist Tove Jansson and her much-loved Moomintroll and family. 

We transformed the Education Studio into a Moominvalley Photobooth, inviting people to join a collage workshop inspired by the exhibition Tove Jansson 1914-2001. While they created landscapes from cut-out coloured card, we set up as a green-screen studio at the other end of the room, where individuals and groups could strike a Moomin-like pose. As the evening progressed, we populated the imaginary landscaped with real-world people to create a series of still images and short animations.
